The Authority held an exchange of experiences on biogas energy technology.
The Addis Ababa City Administration Environmental Protection Authority, under the coordination of the Biogas Energy Improvement and Expansion Team, exchanged experiences on the operation and use of biogas energy technology at the 80 m2 bio-digester built in the Zagol cattle breeding and milk processing facility located in Sululta area of Sheger city, Oromia region, and the Zoma Museum located in Lideta sub-district 08 of Addis Ababa City Administration.
The exchange of experiences was attended by the leaders, directors, relevant departments of the authority, and individuals who requested the authority to participate in the exchange of experiences on biogas energy technology.
As observed in both organizations, it was seen that biogas energy technology can be used to expand beyond the previously known cooking technology and also for lighting power. In particular, it was learned that biogas energy can be used for any purpose without interruption during power outages. In addition, it was learned that biogas waste can be used as compost, and in addition to biogas energy technology, it was also possible to see many indigenous plants growing in the Zoma Museum.
Zoma Museum was founded ten years ago by Ms. Sesem Asegedna and artist Elias Sime, and is currently an organization that creates employment opportunities for 150 citizens by planting and caring for many indigenous plants used for medicinal and aesthetic purposes.
The Authority's General Manager, Ato Dida Diriba, who attended the exchange of experiences, stated that there is a wide opportunity to expand biogas energy technology in Addis Ababa city, and that the experience gained today will create great motivation, and that the experiences gained will be implemented in institutions and will be used to expand the experience to users.
